Shirley Brandman is serving her first term as a member of the Board of Education she was elected to a four year term in November 2007. She is chair of the Ad Hoc Special Education Committee. She began her professional career as an attorney representing children in abuse and neglect cases in Newark, N.J. In 1993, she founded Cornell Law School's first Child Advocacy Clinic. After her children were born, she returned to school to become a teacher for children with learning disabilities.
